NFF launches #BackOnTrack campaign to highlight importance of our farmers

The National Farmers’ Federation (NFF) has this week launched its #BackOnTrack campaign which aims to highlight the important role our farmers play in the nation’s recovery from COVID-19.

“During these challenging times, the importance of locally-grown, fresh, healthy and safe produce has come into sharp focus,” NFF President Fiona Simson said.

“Throughout the pandemic, Australian farmers have continued to grow the fruit, vegetables, meat, dairy, eggs, and grain we all depend on.

“Now, with many other parts of the economy suffering, agriculture and the people behind it, have another job to do: to accelerate our nation’s return to the better times we have become accustomed to.”

Through their extraordinary efforts behind the scenes, farmers have taken on the challenges of COVID-19 and continued to provide support to everyday Australians through the production of fruit, vegetables, meat, dairy and grains.

The six faces of the campaign represent the extraordinary efforts of the nation’s farmers when adapting to the challenges brought by COVID-19. The farmers include:

– Grain, cattle & cotton farmer

Christina Kelman – Wallacia, NSW
– Vegetable farmer

Nat Sommerville – Clare Valley, SA
– Grain and sheep producer

Kay Tommerup – Scenic Rim, QLD
– Dairy farmers

Emma Germano – Delburn, VIC
– Mixed vegetable and livestock farmer

Henry Burke – Katherine, NT

The #BackOnTrack campaign complements the NFF’s #GotYourBack initiative which reassured the nation about Australia’s food security back in March this year.

#BackOnTrack aims to reach 15 million Australians through a tailored advertising and media plan.

#BackOnTrack is a part of the NFF’s Telling Our Story project, hoping to better connect everyday Australians with farmers; with the overall goal for agriculture to be Australia’s most trusted industry by 2030. Telling Our Story is proudly supported by Meat and Livestock Australia, Nutrien Ag Solutions and Woolworths.
